It was truly inspiring to see the creativity and talent of the next generation of filmmakers at Rosebud Secondary College. Students showcased a series of short films on a range of topics, with a particular focus on loneliness – a challenge that affects many in our community of all ages.
The Capel Sound Community Hub, in partnership with the Capel Sound Community Group and other local organisations, featured prominently in the films, highlighting local connections and the power of coming together.
Loneliness is a significant issue in our area, particularly among older residents, and it’s not a topic that’s widely talked about. Initiatives like this bring much-needed awareness to the conversation. The Hub continues to provide welcoming spaces, social programs, and community activities to support connection and combat isolation.
We’re proud to support local creativity and to see young people using their voices to spark meaningful discussion about real community issues.
The film was also shown at the Peninsula Film Festival launch at Rosebud Cinema on Friday 9th of January, giving it a wider audience and further celebrating the students’ work.
