Betty Preston, a long-time Capel Sound community advocate, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Mornington Peninsula Shire Australia Day Awards on 26 January 2026.
For over 30 years, Betty has volunteered and campaigned tirelessly for the Southern Peninsula. Highlights of her work include:
- Leading the 18-year campaign for the YAWA Aquatic Centre, including a 50m pool and warm-water rehabilitation pool
- Supporting local projects, such as relocating the Rosebud dog pound and helping establish the Capel Sound Community Hub
Betty’s dedication, leadership, and selfless service have left a lasting legacy in the community, making her a well-deserved recipient of this award.
