Coastal Roots Garden – Growing Connections Across Our Community

It was wonderful to see our Coastal Roots garden name reveal featured in Southern Peninsula News, sharing a special milestone for Capel Sound Community Hub and the community behind it.

On Thursday 24th of September, we brought together our staff, Board, volunteers, local partners and community members to celebrate the official naming of Coastal Roots, a name chosen by our community following more than 50 suggestions and a public vote.

Made possible through Chobani’s inaugural The Big Difference Grant, Coastal Roots represents much more than a garden. It’s a shared space designed to strengthen food security, encourage sustainability, support intergenerational learning and create meaningful opportunities for community participation.

Importantly, it also provides a foundation for the future, connecting people and programs across the Hub’s different spaces, strengthening local partnerships and creating new opportunities for collaboration, learning and engagement.

This project reflects what can be achieved when community comes together with a shared purpose.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped bring Coastal Roots to life, with special thanks to Chobani for their generous support and to Southern Peninsula News for sharing our story with the wider community.
